About
In 2010 I moved from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada to the University of Stirling in Scotland. Here I love the highland walking, and am Director of ProPEL, an international network for professional practice, education and learning [www.propel.stir.ac.uk].
I have been teaching and writing about workplace learning for a long time, trying to better understand knowing-in-practice, particularly in changing forms of work such as co-production and independent practice. How can we better appreciate the sociomaterial dynamics at play as particular identities, knowledge, objects, environments and purposes emerge together in contested and increasingly complex arrangements of work? How can education of various kinds better support these emergences to promote more equitable, healthy and creative activity?
Most recently I have been exploring enactments of responsibility in work practices, following the contradictory accountabilities of diverse professional practices and how people negotiate these.
